Van Insurance
« on: February 18, 2009, 02:20:02 pm »
I have been getting online quotes for my van insurance over the last few days and was happy with the prices having always gone through a broker.
Everything was going well until i mentioned that i have a 400 litre water tank fitted in the back of the van then the price jumped up one hundred pounds  :o
Does anyone else have this problem and any advice on ways around it short of removing the tank which is rachet strapped to the van floor with professional fitted floor brackets.
I could understand the jump in price if i was carrying inflammable or toxic liquids but it's water for goodness sakes also if the tank was not secured to the floor would it still count as a modification or just standard carriage of goods if slightly dangerous.
I also had to declare the roof rack as a modification.

Try A-Plan Carterton - they will insure the van and equipment including the poles under one policy - 01993 841841

Thanks for the replies.i had to swallow the price increase as the current insurance runs out tomorrow but i still think it was a bit of liberty to jump the price up for a secured tank of water.
