Still pondering
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:19:51 pm »
Still thinking hard of getting back into w/c, was trad for 14 yrs but gave up over ten yrs ago before the wfp revolution. My question is this, has wfp increased hourly earning rates? If so by how much would you honestly say your average hourly rate went up by when fully competent with wfp? Just trying to consider all avenues at this time. Cheers in advance

Hi Trippy,

Well all the adverts say once you go to WFP you can add £1000's of extra work your way.

I will admit there is alot of extra work you can get just because you have WFP.

That is providing you have the right setup. Just because you have a van mounted system does not mean you can do it all. There are issues such as access might not be possible.

But with a trolley WFP it wont be a problem. But you wouldnt want to do a huge building with a trolley although it can be done, just alot of refills. The biggest is the safety issue especially if you are like me and do commercial.

I would not necessarily say just because you have WFP your hourly rate goes up. There are some buildings I would rather use traditional on instead of WFP.

I also have residential customers and they all have mixed veiws no matter how you inform them. Some want traditional some want WFP. I do both. So I am not limited.

If you are considering setting up I would go traditional first as the layout is not expensive. But by all means if you can afford to go WFP do so. But I hear in the south east, alot of window cleaners are losing work left right and centre. That has come from the cleaners themselves.

best of luck

Dave

I think my rate went up about 20% once I was used to it. I have never managed to do jobs twice as fast except for leads and Georgean, and I doin't have many of them.

Yes I would say that's about right, but it costs more obviously on initial lay out!

Go to another w/c you see using the system, and ask him... most  are ok!

if not...
Why not ask people who have their windows done by wfp, how much?
Say your thinking of starting up and wondering how much you could earn!

In Bristol, great go for it, your nowhere near me! ;D ;D ;D

Hello trippy - what're you doing for work now? Whereabouts in Bristol are you? What do you hope to acheive and how old are you?

It is getting tighter out there - can you buy a round to get started?
It's a game of three halves!

Hi Malc, im in East Bristol, im looking really to buy a round, i remember all the  hours of canvassing from the mid eighties when i first started my round at the tender age of 19, wouldnt really fancy all that again, rather buy an up n running business. Im currently in the building game but its getting evil out there for builders atm. Been thinking of doing w/c with my Mrs, im thinking perhaps we could earn around £40 to £45 per hour between us. I gave up the windows some 10 years ago with a average over the month of £13.50 per hour with prices due for a little rise, so im hoping 10 years down the line £20 to £23 per hour is attainable
