« on: January 29, 2009, 03:06:33 pm »
Anyone noticed the amount of "you know where" questions from newbies.

Im not giving anymore tips to newbies dont mind helping others on here.

See a question earlier on here "Where do i get wfp system from?", Now if you cant be bothered are really are that stupid  perhaps you should be looking at another job of at least do some bloody research. >:(

Anyway thats my moan for the day ;D

No, I disagree with both of previous poster's sentiments.

It's good to re-hash old topics; someone may post something new and from a different angle to that which has been posted before.

The old subjects of what's the best squeegie, squeegie rubber, detergent, gloves... etc, always get a good response.

feel free to go thru all the old posts and back that up.. there's is literally 10 what wfp should i get in the last 20 days.. saying/asking the same thing or very similar ..

yes new topics are great but not 10 in 20 days..  i doubt technology comes into fruition that quick.

not like you to disagree Tosh :)

 ;D

But I did it professionally; there was no direct personal insults; just a difference of opinion; that's all.

Usually these days on any forum you visit there is a sticky topic which asks you to search for what your looking for, before posting.  It would help stop posts disappearing off the page before you have had a chance to read them.

These window cleaning forums though are more of a community thing, where people come to chat.

I bought my first system before i found this forum i did my research and ended up by having too much info and being more confused by it all so much so i ended up with something that didnt suit me at all
If i had known of this forum and been able to ask others all about wfp and the different systems i could have saved time and money
We all have to start somewhere and maybe the threads are all part of the research the poster is doing

Yeah i agree and disagree, you should find help but lets face it if they found this forum they could have found a WFP site, not only that they could have scrolled down a page and found a topic already asking about WFP. instead this forum is getting clustered up with Rubbish, there should be a NEWBIE forum or Getting started or something..

From what I have seen on this forum there are a lot of simple questions being asked from everyone not just newbies. I thought the purpose of a site like this was to help each other with tips and share experience to others new or old!
I'm a newbie to this forum but not to the business.

hang on there mate... if i asked a question 2 years ago would i get the same answer today? what about 6 months ago? what about 2 months ago... so yes you will get the same question asked several times according to the individuals personal requirements, budget etc so if you dont wanna share cos you think its your football then go play in another park...

A business man friend of mine used to play hell with me for coming in here and giving advice.
This guy thought it was crazy to come on a forum and educate the opposition.
Another friend, a professional fisherman stopped going to the pub because he couldn't keep his mouth shut when he had had a few beers, he was telling others in 5 minutes what had taken him a lifetime experience to learn. The final straw was when someone shot a fleet of nets over a bass hot spot he had found, after had opened his mouth in the pub.
It's different with us window cleaners with established rounds, it takes a lot more to lose our work.
I have done searches on here before, it's not so easy to find what you want, and if they are the same old questions, well it gives the comparative newbies a chance to offer a bit of advice.

Some good points dai, we've all helped newbies, but at the moment it feels as though we are being swamped, both on here and out in the streets.

We're a pretty easy target, and why shouldn't we share our livelehoods when so many other industries have collapsed.Well if one or two start up it's to be expected, but this is serious numbers of new starters. If you look at the high street all the shops that shut reopened selling sandwiches,or coffee, well that worked for a while but now many of them have gone bust. There has to be a saturation point for window cleaners and i think we've reached it. One more man in the life boat and we'll all go under.

I am happy to help and advise people where I can, with sensible questions.
But what I dont get is where do the newbies get details of this forum from? Its supposed to be for cleaning professionals, isnt it? but people come on and openely say that they do other jobs and are thinking of setting up.
As for being swamped by new people, all I can say is that I think people talk too much on here about earnings, and prices, and of course it looks really attractive to people just looking in on the topics. We dont know who they are.
I am guarded with what I say on here generally, but do appreciate the advice and assistance I have received from people on here, and generally the topics, and  swapping of experencies is good.
If you look at the number of views of topics, compared against the number of replies its obvious that many are just noting the information without ever adding an opinion.
What pees me off is newbies coming on and blatantly asking for work, and then you never hear from them again. Where can I get some free money???
Rant over, Im gonna take my tablets now.

I don't mind who asks what. I got loads of good info on here when i was new to window cleaning.
For any who wants to know about wfp, i would recommend them going to matts diy site. That is the best place to see how simple a sytem really is.

Ewan, who said their afraid of new window cleaners? I think people are just making the point that they are fed up with stupid posts, when the info is available if they looked.
Would you go onto a forum specifically for car dealers and ask "where can I buy a car"?
