battery filling

i have a 85 ah battery ,the sort with a handle on top that is sealed but has got the six openings on top. just wondered should i open it up and top up with water and is it right i can use my pure water and how often and before or after charge ,please help.

Yes it will need topping up and checking probably best around once a month before a charge.  You can use your water providing it has gon through di and is 000tds.

I use 85 amp leisure battery. Very rarely needs to be topped up.

If you overfill them they will leak battery acid into your van. I haven't topped mine up for about a year!

I did this on 2 of my batteries and they have played up ever since, aint got a clue why, they are now now used.

I have 1 that`s piggy backing the other 1 for the heater and i`ve never needed to top it up in 2.5 years,it`s true like some have said if you over fill them or sometimes add water to them they can play up a bit.If you top them up i would slightly under fill it rather than over fill it.
