Is it just me but when i get home i look like i've spent all day down a coalmine!
I hate wearing gloves but have had to lately because of the carbon dust coming off my pole. Getting through large quantities of swarfeega to try and shift it. Wife won't let me near her. I clean the pole off every day but by the afternoon i'm filthy again. I've been wearing cycle mitts so i can feel for my pole valve etc but they aren't much protection. Are all carbon telescopic poles the same?

They are skin tight and very strong for a latex glove, a pair will normally last me all day.

my facelifts the same the black stays on my hands for days. There must be something out there that can seal the carbon?

As NWH said, try PTFE dry lubricant spray. This will lightly coat the sections. To be really effective you would need to completely disassemble the pole, clean inside and outside of each section, spray them and reassemble.

I always work with lightweight mechanical gloves as I find it offers protection from gritty hoses as well.

As Alex said remove all sections and wipe down with a damp cloth and then buff them dry,spray a good amount of the dry lube on each section covering the whole pole from top to bottom.Wear gloves if you can when doing this because it will make driving a nightmare due to how slippy your hands will feel,you will be amazed at how smooth your pole will feel after doing this.You can get it in Robert Dyas for £7 a can.

or get some tennis racket tape to wind round the bottom section - gives you a good grip also

ftp is right. On a carbon fibre pole the black dust will not come from the base section as this receives no external abrasion. The dust comes from all the other sections.

It was even worse when I was using an ali pole as my main one.  The black staining from the metal left my hands black by the end of the day.  I sdon't really get on with gloves.

I'm gonna coat my SL-X in engine laquer when I get the chance, I've heard very good thing about that, seales the pole, and hardly wears.

i didnt give it a thought that the bottom section isnt the one making a mess.................. now i found some nice tape thats on its way tomoro that cost £40

Don't rub your eyes, wash your hands frequently if not wearing gloves.  I've had a small cyst on my right lower eyelid since summer, the doctor says it's a bit of dust trapped thats infected.  It won't go away!  I'm convinced it's carbon dust.
