Self cleaning glass

Just got a new custy and they have a conservatory with self cleaning glass on the roof. When talking to them about it , they said that the people who built it said that to keep the guarantee up they have to have the roof cleaned twice a year  ::) so whats the point of self cleaning of which wasn't very clean ?
Looks like a load of rubbish to me but can't complain as i now have to clean the roof twice a year ;D

one of my custys have it on there con roof and after a month it was a mess and now after a year its like every other con roof, they want me to give it a good clean now....   It's a mess and they admit they have been ripped off.

I did a new one with new conservatory and self-clean glass before xmas. The custie still wants me to clean his roof every 3 months so even hes not that convinced. ;D

i have done these self cleaning glass roofs before as they dont stay clean one custy said the roof does not need cleaning as its self cleaning i looked up at it as the custy did a cup of tea and it was a mess she then said thinking about it can you do the roof so what is the point of paying loads of money for a product that does not work

I have noticed that this glass does stay cleaner longer, but is best suited to vertical applications rather than roofs where it is often fitted.

It only stays cleaner if the glass gets washed down by rainwater.  The chances of rain falling directly on every window in a property are probably nil, unless you're prepared to wait for 10 years or so ;D

We do the windows for an area manager of Pilkingtons, even he admits it ought really to be called 'lower maintenance glass' as 'self cleaning' is a misrepresentation.

I say to the customers that the glass is always cleaning itself, but never clean, because it is a process that takes time.
 I have one or two conseratories, that we clean, that are supposed to have this glass in the windows as well as the roof, but I still clean the windows each month.

Its where they where told before it was built that it had to be cleaned to keep the guarantee, that's what made me laugh ;D
