Thanks to all for the hot wfp input on this forum but I'd like to ask Roy and Ian specifically whether they are going hot; any reasons for so doing (or not); and what system ((DIY) or not)) you might be considering.

P.S. This is not to exclude others but Roy and Ian as successful self-employed sole operators are where I want to be businesswise. (I realise that a hot system for an employee might not be the same as one I might use for myself)

Yes i'm going to go hot in the next few months. I will go the diy root as it is little outlay, then I can judge for my self if it is better than cold.

If it is then I would be prepared to spend more on a custom fit and new van, as there is little tax bennefit left in mine as it is now 5yrs old and done 42,000 miles.

Are you thinking of going hot?

In 2007 a leading Resin supplier warned the industry that Hot de-ionised water could actually be corrosive and detrimental to some framework because oxygen will leave the water at high temperatures resulting in a higher concentration of dissolved carbon dioxide which increase it’s acidity.A well known water fed pole supplier advised............ in stubborn dirt scenarios to either pre-treat with detergent or double clean with cold water to avoid costly law suits due to damage.

The cpmpany also saidthat after  researching the cleaning power of pure water concluded that it is the Structure of the pure water it’s self that does the cleaning not the temperature of the water this has little or no effect.

If you use hot water you won`t careless about it cos it`s so much better-easier to work with,ask any hot WFPoler if they`ll go back to cold water the majority wouldn`t.

Yes I am and will probably go DIY as an add-on when I can work out how the best way is to go about it.

I must admit I do find the thought of 3K a bit of a bitter pill to swallow!

Why not phone your insurer up and ask what the require ments are.

If the water is being heated after DI, it makes no difference. It only changes slightly if it's heated before DI, something to do with the percentage of cations and ions mixed together for cold DI use.

The water is heated after DI in all systems i`ve looked at.

That's how they're suppose to be fitted. If someone has a DIY heater and a bi-pass back into tank because of flow rates cutting the boiler out then the re-heated water from the tank passing through DI would affect the resin but it's so miniscule that the damage to wooden frames isn't exactly that noticeable anyway. Tucker were just using that 'resin notification' as a sales gimmick to scare monger hot wfp users into buying their resin supplies, (good marketing tactics though)

If I had employees then yes but as I'm the only one using it then to me it's no harder than putting a multipoint over a sink. I would happily use a plumber to install and/or use a a diesel heater if gas is a problem.

I carry gas bottles when I go camping, have used gas bottles when using a caravan. But diesel's ok.

I see minimal risk and no risk to the public. I would always meet legal requirements though.
