NIC NAMES
« on: December 30, 2008, 11:43:17 am »
Thought anyone attempting to register without full name address was to be refused and nic names were to be banned.

Wasnt that what most of us wanted, Rob?

Even with proper names and photos, it doesnt have to be who they say they are.

I am now treating all newbies with extreme caution after what happened last week on another forum.
No more putting myself out to help - not until I am sure anyway.

Fair enough Joe.

On a brighter note, I see there is a Chemspec TM for sale it's a 210 is that similar to yours. I googled it and on a yank board they were saying it's underpowered? It's basically a Blazer yeah?

I reread your post about your purchase, you sure did your homework beforehand. ;D

Hi Mike
Mine is a Chemspec Avenger 450, same as Prochem Blazer Plus I am told.
It has a Briggs and Stratton v-twin 18hp engine, I think basically the same as HM 318 but will stand corrected on that.

I dont know the spec of the 210.

Underpowered? Compared to bigger units - yes! (bit obvious that)
but did a post today saying that a 2 vac is better then 1 vac, 3 better then 2, and TM better then 3 vac porty.
If the one I am using is underpowered then all portables muct be useless - and that is not the case.
I am very pleased with my 450. The claim is it will clean carpets up to 300ft away.
Mostly doing domestics, I just know it cleans carpets very well at the 150' that I have ONCE had to use it on - and that only recently ie the week before the Xmas break.

As to doing my homework beforhand....
I contacted the seller, Dave Atkins, on the Monday evening asking questions, contacted him the Thursday eve to arrange to go the next day - we agreed a price before I saw it on the basis I was travelling once, and I would either buy it at that price and take it away or not.

In between the Mon eve and Thurs evening I managed to phone, Shaun, Gunny, Simon Gerrard, Mossy and Len Gribble, who were all helpful in giving me their thoughts.

Thanks Joe,

This one is prabably a smaller model then.

re profiles.

It's not easy but. Anyone new who wants help, probably wont have any issues at least putting where they are from and company name etc.

The wasters never do even after several promptings.

Also I thought it was possible to trace IP addresses to a town or city or at least know if it's the same person again with a different name.

Mike - just googled Avenger 210 and probably visited the same sites as you.
Yes, the 210 physically looks smaller, probably a 16hp machine.

Re tracing IP addresses.  I believe you are right, and this is what that forum must have done because "he" was deleted straight away - no messing.
but they still dont learn.  All they want to do is disrupt the good things that goes on, having messed up for themselves by getting banned.

To keep everyone happy I've just added my name to the tag, though my name and all other details have always been in the bottom signature block

During the time I've been on here over the past 3, or is it 4 years, I've found, no matter how humble, or how bolshi someone is, they might have something useful to say, or they might have poor communication skills.

What often causes argument, is a lack of understanding, or misinterpretation of the written word. Sometimes, a persons mood has a bearing.

What this forum offers, is a fantastic learning tool for people at all stages of their business, from absolute beginner, to what some call expert, although nobody ever knows everything.

There are people, who've proven their marketing style works, very well, for them and might work for you
A few mechanically gifted people who like to take things apart and improve them.
Others with extensive computer skills.
At least one other with advertising insights.
Some who just come up with gems of information.

Some team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where you fit in does'nt really matter, but YOU DO FIT IN and unless you're a complete prat, whatever problem you have within this industry, you will almost certainly find help.

Have a good end to the year and good luck with the future.

Hi Guys

Wirth a forum this size it would be a monumental task to force everyone to have a pic, name etc

I can understand a newbie using a Nic Name to start with and then changing to his proper name as he becomes more confident.

This leaves us open to abuse and as sure as day turns to night there will be those who abuse, but this is easily the best forum so if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Happy New Year
Doug
