After the couple of past van care posts I now I a problem with mine, the driver side wheel hub is cracked and i was advised to get it changed asap, now im still driving it as i cant be without it for now, if i was to go and get the hub myself does anyone know how to fit a new one and is there much to it?  I really cant leave it in the garage now but at the same time dont want to kill myself!!!!

Any help would be great!

As business owners, whether sole operators like many here, or a national company with a fleet of vehicles, we have a duty to ensure our vehicles are in GWO.

By deliberating what to do and how to do it, you are putting your own life, along with little Johnie and his mom who will be walking to school tomorrow morning along the very road you will be driving down, at risk.

Get it done NOW. The consequences are so much greater than a delayed or lost lounge/dine H/S/L.

We do have a duty of care too. For example, your liabilty insurance wouldn't cover you for negligence on a bodged vehicle repair, incorrect torque settings etc. etc. but a mechanic's would.

I know it hurts the wallet, but in the bigger picture it pays to be assured that work is done to manufacturers specifications.

YES I know how to fit it; it’s done in reversal. You may need specialised tools. If in doubt take it a garage

As Len says you will probably need special tools like a puller and as Ken says a torque wrench.

If you worried about losing jobs - hire a van to get your machine around whilst yours is being repaired.
Even if the cost of hire is what you earn cleaning a few carpets, then you have gained overall as you have satisfied a custoemr and will probably get their job next time.

Its not an option - you need to get it repaired beofre oyu damage the vehicle further, and more importantly damge yourself and/or others.

Ive been in this situation mate, I couldnt afford at one point to fix my van so i hired a "man with a van" for the day.....cheaper than  van hire!!  He charged me £50 for the day and even helped me on my jobs! ....filling my machine etc.

Do you mean a drum or a hub in other words is it the bearing carrier if not it is a simple job.
What make model of van.
