My worst nightmare was a big posh place that was built in 1912; during the 'Arts and Crafts' style; so the owner informed me.
Anyway, the outside was simple enough with WFP, lots of high Georgian windows; but the inside kitchen windows were a complete nightmare; they hadn't been done in years; and then there was lots of other access problems.
In the kitchen I ended up with a seven foot A frame ladder ON TOP OF THE KITCHEN WORK SURFACES (all granite and I didn't feel safe doing it) to reach the top Georgian panes; and even then I was at 'full stretch'. I couldn't believe the amount of grease on them; they obviously hadn't been cleaned in years and it was a complete bugger. And there were lots of them!
The customer was a nice bloke though, paid in cash, an ex army-officer who'd served in the same places I'd served in.... but I never went back.
I believe there's no such thing as a tough job as long as it's not under-priced; but this was a complete bar-stewart and to clean this place again, I'd want double what I charged him; but he baulked at the price I gave in the first place and he jokingly insinuated that I'd added extra because he was an ex-commisioned officer!
