I don't believe it!

I don't want to start another load of Argy Bargy about pricing, because it's a subject that get's done to death on here too often, and pricing is very personal to the individual business and its owner.

However, I must relate what happened to me about an hour ago.

I've been to clean two 3 bed semi's in a village about 3 miles from my home, here in Staffordshire - they are "Occasional Cleans" and are done on an irregular basis, but always both together - the ladies are twins, in fact.

Today, I picked up another house, and the lady at that one asked if I would give a price for a monthly clean of the Village Hall, "We used to have a window cleaner, who came here from Stoke, [7 miles away], but he stopped coming", the usual story.

Looked at VH - 21 UPVC windows, two different sizes, all ground floor, all reachable with my short pole, except for one, and that's because it's adjacent to a stairs leading down to the boiler room, so longer pole for that.

Easy access from car park, can run hose around VH easily.

So price it then.

First two numbers you think of, allow for wind being from NW on Bank Holiday Mondays, Auntie Maude has red hat, red contains three letters, so add three quid, left hand down a bit, the usual calculation that we all do.

I figure that first clean take just over the hour, and subsequent cleans under the hour.

Went back to lady and said "16 pounds"

She said, "The last bloke charged six"!

He's been doing it with A-ladder and trad - it has to take 90 minutes - that's 4 quid an hour - not even beer money.

I told her that's why he's never been again, and left my price with her - there is meeting of "Committee" tonight - I'll let you know whether I get job!

I;ve got a shop £20 a fair price i think , last bloke charged £8 AND HAD CHARGED THAT FOR LAST 17YRS , told the owner 17yrs ago packet of fAgs about £2 now 2.5 times the price at £5 so 2.5 times £8 = £20 as i said a fair price.
dont look who's to blame, look how to fix it. anon

They left me a message on answering service yesterday - I do the job this week, and it's not Weston, by the way, [didn't know Weston has a VH]
