whilst cleaning a window above somebody's conservatory today I noticed that one of the lead strips on her window had come loose and was being caught by the brush!

She was fine about it but has this happened to anyone else and is there a "glue" suitable for sticking it back to the window?

its not unusall to have new leads with rubish glue , ro old leads that come lose

Yes it happens to me and I brush so that it pushes the lead back on to the glass.

was worse when i was trad, scrim used to snag in it , hated doing them.

now i love em 

the worst ones are where lead has been stuck on , after windows have been fitted, or where i has not been fitted right ( lead should finish under beading), so that no edges are left to snag when cleaning.

if fitted after should have a leaded border round for same reason.

  I had one like this, a kitchen window (using scrims then!) a right pain, kept on catching.
I noticed it had a few strips missing... so over the months, strangely enough more and more kept on falling off/went missing!
I lost that job... thankfully!    :

superglue! if it can hold that fella over them sharks in the advert then it wont strugle with a bit of lead!

i hear ya about trad leads! hated them. pvcu ones were ok but dodggy diy ones always came off. never had a prob with the wand yet.

I had the same once and blamed it on all the rubbing with the scrim 

Showed her the brush and convinced her that it wasn't the brushing causing the prob. Fingers crossed no more come away now they are being brushed

Just think it might be worthwhile to mention that superglue on glass drys in white and is torture to remove the excess. Plus from the inside the lead that is stuck to the glass will look white, from the outside it will look fine if you want to spend ages removing the excess with a blade

argos sell a roll of the lead to replace old stuff its not that dear just peel the back off and stick it on

i would forget about it now.... if she seems ok about it... but just be careful in the future.

its far too much messing about with glue, etc etc... and you will probably make a mess of it , and dig a deeper hole....

I tend to ask if the lead is prone to coming off... as  i will be using a brush...

they all say its fine dont worry.... i then ask again , are you sure?

its not permission to damage it.... but at least they are aware of the possibility,

also i think any kind of scrubbing, buffing , brushing will eventually shift the cheap stuff....

its happened to me both trad and wfp....

but i never repair it. too much hassle for what its worth,

let the customer sort it... they know best... as they probably stuck the bloody stuff on.

when i take a job on i point this out and just take extra care when doing particular window.normally just get reply that its been coming off for years, don,t worry about it .
