Has anyone employed a canvasser to find residential work for their company?

If so how did you pay them - hourly fee - commission only or a mix?

I am considering employing a part time canvasser any advice would be welcome

Thank

Kev  ;D

Good Luck. I`ve been advertising for a canvaser for the last three weeks, offering O.T.E of £15 per hour and I`ve had one call from someone who`s English was so bad I`m only guessing they were calling about the job.

Best and cheapest way is to canvass yourself if you have the time. From experience customer prefers to see the face of peson they're about to employ.

same here, im doing it myself, too much hassle finding someone, i am still looking, but cant find a suitable candidate...

unless you are after a very long term thing, i would employ a leaflet dropper, i have one doing a 1000 a week, then i go and call on the areas shes dropped or where i have got calls from, working so far, i get about £50 worth of monthly work a week roughly and a **it load of one offs, i only canvass on a sunday for now because dark in evenings, but come light evenings again i will be out 2-3 evenings.....

in the last month i have used 2 companies, the first didn't even get out of the gate after saying they would start the following week..... in his words "sorry mate I have a load of s£$t going on. the second one managed to get me £300 of work in three days for which i was paying 2 x cleans. i wanted a total of £1000 work so £2000 for him. he gave up after the 3rd day. apparently the area is too tough and his staff are unreliable!!!

resigned to doing it myself am sick to the back teeth of "canvassers" promising this and that and not delivering!!

Name and shame

not in my interest to name and shame, the guy still has all the addresses for £300 of work i have taken and I have someone working it, so I dont want to lose that for any reason having spent out.

put it this way though all i did was use the internet to find a canvassing company.

all i would say to anyone on here is unless the "canvasser" comes highly highly recommended i think it is a profession that many just decide to start up and its even easier than a trip to B&Q to buy some ladders and a bucket.

apparently both companies use "teams" of canvassers, the first was clearly a one man band and the second had a "new boy" with him on the second night. a good paying job for a presentable student!!

basically they want it on a plate, near to where they live, dont like to work in the dark or weekends!!!!!

saying that if anyone does ever find anyone decent please post them up on here

i've not had one that can deliver what they say they will. i have built up a lot of work through canvassing company's but it has been a head ache getting there. I did use a decent bloke last time but he had trouble employing canvassers as they all seem to do. I have not been ripped off yet but it did come close one time but i sensed something was up so held off paying until the work was clarified. my senses were right. It is a tuff one. i found unless they are experienced in door knocking you can't employ your own. thankfully at the moment i seem to have stumbled on 3....will they last? who knows? i just keep taking the work for as long as its coming in :D
