Was but not now.
Because I did w/c part time that biz was in my wifes name and not vat registered. My business of buying and selling computer consumables was VAT reg'd not due to big profit but because
the turnover
reached the limit.
When I went f/time w/c and Mrs Gold got a real job I didn't need to be vat reg'd.

I know a guy whose not a window cleaner but self-employed in the building trade.
He informs me that he's voluntary VAT registered, even though he turns over less than the VAT 'mark', purely so that his business looks 'bigger' than what it really is.
