SL2 Pole bag / trolley
« on: October 15, 2008, 01:05:28 pm »
I use the SL2 for all my high work and I cannot fault it.

However I do a lot of commercial work, and some times especially on new builds the ground isn't the best.  When building the superlite I make it to 35/ 40 ft the raise the pole then I add and remove sections as I require. And here lies my problem.  I find with the holdall set up another pair of hands is required unless you dont mind risking dropping the pole or stepping on a discarded section.

I would love a trolley or a holdall that stands up but can be folded away neatly in the van. The Unger Hi flow carbontec bag looks the business but maybe a bit large for the SL2

What do others think? Is there something you already use? Or do you not find it a problem?

In the picture I am using the superlite and as you can see the ground is horrible but imagine it in the wet!!

I know it sounds stupid, but i have heard of other window cleaners using golf bags, with stands. You know the type that fold out once they are put down, also it comes with a great shoulder strap obviously!

Bit mad.. but you never know till you try it. I will one day when i have the need for a 40ft plus pole.

The golf bag with stand is actually a good idea and several of our clients use this. One of our clients also uses a lightweight golf-bag with shoulder straps, so the bag is on his back and he can quickly remove or add sections as he wants.

We have been examining the possibility of manufacturing our own stand type bag/case that would be stable enough to leave standing and quick to add remove sections from it. We have even looked at a hard skin case for this purpose. Any ideas or feedback on what would suit Super-Lite users I would be happy to take on board before commissioning the product.

On the above type of site I tend to carry the holdall to where I need it, leave it on the ground and then slide sections into as I finish with them.

The trouble with the site above and ones like it is the SL2 really needs a bath when you get back and the holdall ends up really dusty or muddy depending on the weather.

I would like a rigid bag with wheels and a stand so you could pull it to the next section of building with you. I think a trolly would be a bit big in the van. Maybe having the wheels on one side and a fold open stand on the other, then It could be moved with the stand opened or closed with one hand.  ;D

Yea, definitely something that folds up neatly, I only have a Berlingo, and it fits but space is limited. :)

The picture of Baudoin's solution gives me an idea. How about a half height holder that has individual compartments for each section. This could clip onto a golf type trolley as above or be lifted off and fitted onto the side of the van.

one that would sling around your side so you could remove sections or put them back in while its on you would be good.

I would like to have a solution that keeps the sections protected against other bits and pieces in the van, so a full hard cover, but one hole for each section. It would be nice if the cover could have wheels and a stand as then you wouldn't have to store the cart section. But if the trolley could be made small enough a slide in hard bag would be ok too.

A shoulder strap would be good to carry it any distance but I wouldn't like to set the pole up with the bag hanging from me.

the joy of use in a trolley i prop my bag against it stick the handle of the bag around the trolley. but this is ok with use with a trolley but from van system it would be good to have a bag on a stand. my modular is made by me and the bag is a head ski bag trim down to size it is well padded,  i know its not the sl2 or the sl2 bag but thought i would add the photos

Dont like individual sections as they take up too much space. need an umberella stand- big circumferance, at an angle with a partially open top. Your horizontal tray idea was probably as good as they come.

can you slide the sections of an SL2 inside each other so that it takes up less space?

Alex, what about a telescopic SL2?  obviously the name would need to change to SL3 or SL3t or geoff or whatever.

Ok so it stores away nicely but putting it up and down do you want to slide each section in to each other?
