Interesting post Ive always had a quarter page add in yellow pages but have notice ive been getting more work from a local mag and after listing to how ITN profits have drop because less business advertising on it , just shows that theres less money in the pot for every one and I think Yellow Pages be reducing there prices for next year, Ill be keeping firm check on where my calls are coming from before i spend any more or less on advertising next year.

Hi Guys what is the point of signing a proof copy if no one is going to take any notice of it ?
If you have kept your side of the contract its not your fault they cannot keep theirs
I would not pay

Hi clinton i have 5 proofs here as they kept screwing up my ammendments, the add that i am not happy with had been ammended at least 5 times, the last one i sent missed the deadline ,but instead of using the second to last proof they reverted back to the very first one, with only the first batch of changes ! still not heard back from them 2 e mails now and can`t view any of my adds online as the site is not working !  >:( think i will cancel my d/debit and see how long it takes them to contact me then

Well got a result at last ! been in touch with yellow pages a number of times ,both phone and e-mails.Today i recieved a letter telling me they are going to refund 25% of the cost of the advert,as a good will gesture it amounts to £399..Gave me some cock and bull story about how the picture of household cleaning products won`t detract customers from calling me,my bottom it won`t ,not had half the calls i had from my previous add ! wish i had just left it alone ,instead of upgrading to pic and bigger add !
hope they don`t mess up the cambridge book now, fingers crossed

Mark

Dont except that, if they have got it wrong dont pay it, they will threaten court and all sorts but stick to your guns, if they have cocked up keep going.

I got a total refund on the aaaaaa thing that they do because my rep told me they had canceled it but had not so I was at the back of the book, took me a long time and court threats from them, they even passed it over to a debt collector but I still refused to pay and in the end they canceled the claim and went away.

You have to stand up to them,  most people give up and except what they say to them, but what you have to remember is that they are sales people without any brains. Just keep at them.

Bit late to this but here goes.

The same thing happened here a few years ago. We kicked up a stick and got full refund.

The strangest thing was that we got a better response from the "lousy" ad than we had in previous years from our nicely laid out one. I guess the first attempt looked so much different from everything else on the page!

Seriuosly, they have not honoured their side of the contract so why should you pay?
