Evenin all,

Just been watching the tonight programme about the credit crunch, looks a bit bleak to say the least. We have been up every month this year, August was mad, a bit slower in Sept but always is, looking like we will be up on last year so cant complain. But! Can this continue, are we the lucky ones? surly with unemployment rising like this we will get hit?

Been the best it`s ever been for me  just booked one of my commercial customers for sat 2nd time this year £700.also got a £257 job sat morning so earning nigh on a gran on sat  on my own with a porty and a duo.
Have been investing earnings back into the business,even got propper cover for my van nnow  :.
Still heamoraging money on my scirocco though,so it`s all good,drove it for the first time in 4 years today,like a go kart round corners,very happy

Remember to take the money whilst it is there because when we come out of recession customers buy new to reward themselves.

I really think there is something in the save money and clean instead of buy. A lot of people have said to me they were considering new but thought they would hold out for a year or two.

If people start losing their jobs though, they wont be buying anything.

I agree with Mike, I have also had the same things said to me regarding cleaning rather than replacement. I honestly think that we will be one of the few trades that will benefit from the lack of consumer spending.
I have had a average September but got 9 jobs booked in for October so i have not noticed a drop in work.

I too am busy.

However on a note of caution this credit crunch is not ging to go away, American markets are already realising the buyout of bad debt is another 'away with the fairies plan', thay can't afford it!

If your doing well, put some away and you will weather the recession and be in a strong position to negotiate good deals with suppliers.

I think you are right Doug, but I think it does at least restore some confidence which is what it's all about.

When it is perceived house prices have hit rock bottom and start creeping up, then there is a chance things will gradually improve.

I'm still waiting for the proper buy to let time bomb to go off.

Think we will see a quiet early new year jan feb march,thats when all the higher heating bills etc will kick in.

Not looking forward to the heating bills myself  live in a 15th centuary cottage,no central heating just very expensive convector heaters and oil filled rads,and an open fire in the lounge,coal has gone up by £10per 300 weight since my delivery early this year not good !
still work keeps coming in,my scirocco is in for it`s re test on friday afternoon (failed on 4 minor things) and that was just him being really fussy ! so am going to have the pleasure of paying to keep 2 on the road.
Well worth it though,going to need a speed camera detector i think

i am pleased to say that i have never been busier.........last week was  my busiest ever.......£1200 ........(not bad considering i am partime)
if i could do this every week i would be fulltime!!

this week quieter ....only a few jobs to quote.......but next week looking busy again.....

i think i will be raising my prices  very soon.......

i think that people are cleaning rather than replacing their carpets
