Pressure Washing
« on: August 30, 2008, 11:49:24 am »
i know its not a wc question but the other sections on this forum dont get the response! I might have a job pressure washing down a HUGE house, so wondered if anyone has done it before and knows what sytem would be good? And they have asked that its done with pure water, so would it just be easiest to plug a di between hose and washer becasue these things are flowing 600 litres an hr, my system only has  650!! and its gonna be 4-5 days work..

Any ideas??

We have cleaned a whole house with pure water.

The house we cleaned was painted brick - should have been white - it was green!!!

With a smooth finish you will get away with using your pole set up and the important RO water.

If you have a 15 litre per minute pressure washer how long will 1000 litres of water last - 66.6 minutes - just over an hour.

If the time to do the work is four days and a day is 8 hours - you will need just under 8000 litres per machine per day x 4 = 32000 litres of pure water for the job.

They asked that the job be done with pure water, im just doing what they asked, its not doing any harm is it, if i was asked to use normal water price would be the same, im subbing for a good mate anyway so its not like he doesnt know, its what the guy hes working with requested!

I'd use a small DI and just not worry about checking the TDS too often,...

im sorry, but i do a fair bit of pressure washing... and i would not entertain using pure water.... no benefits at all....

using a backpack sprayer, i spray traffic film remover , leave for 5 mins, then blast it all off using a turbo nozzle.......

they come up like new.... there is absolutely no reason to use pure water...

personally i think the customer is a little strange to insist on pure water to clean a driveway..

its about the pressure hittlng the surface, and blasting away the dirt and moss.

and only a good machine with good pressure will do that ..

the type of water does not come into it.

ok heres what you do

you get your tank and fill with pure, then while your pressure washing attack their hose to a di and fill your van up while your pressure washing, it will last long that 60min, it will run out eventually, (dimensioning returns) but quicker than nothing

and dont check the tds, just keep going

It isnt the driveway! its the actual building front!! I don even think its worth spray washing?? Surely it should be sand blasted or something??

I did ask them if they wanted it sand blasted but the project manager just wants it pressure washing, and he is a mate of mine, i said i would just stick a day rate in and work for however long it takes, its quite far away as well, its right the other end of anglesey, so got to stay over!!
Its not for a while yet though so see what happens nearer time, but if they are interested in sand blasting will defo keep you in mind :)
