hose reel in vrs out
« on: August 20, 2008, 05:42:27 pm »
hi
i know it has been discussed a few times , i use a 100 mtr micro bore reel , connected to pump via 1/2 reinforced hose. it is left connected , and varisrteam on [pressured up] i lift out at job, or leave in van depending on job, can lock van doors either way. i turn varisream on in morning ,and off at the end of the day. the advantages for me are
use less water[ every time you dissconnect hose you loose some water]
no water running from hose reel, and wetting inside van
ready to use straight away [no waiting for any air to be pushed through hose]
no turning of varistream at end of job to dissconnect, then on again at next job[saves switch]

who does it differently ? and what advantage does it have -for you?

could you show some pics of the way you do this ??

I always disconnect the hose, turn off controls on each job, I am always looking for good time saving measures, van mounted reel is just not viable on the work we do, I have tried and tried again and its a baal ache to be honest.

I am very interested to here what you have to say and pics would be great  ;)

hi
will try to take pics early next week , as i am going away for a long weekend . basically the reel is connected via 2-3 metres 1/2 reinforced hose , to a swivel brass connecter on reel . the 2-3 metres is so i can position reel either side of van or behind . i have a scudo and i hose sits in between bottom seals where 2 doors meet ,i close door till i just catches -still a slight gap between doors ,so it does not stop flow , door will still lock. sometimes i leave reel in van and feed micro bore out the same way. i find this works great for me , everything stays water tight ,less wear on fitting , the only item i replace-every 3 mths or so , is the o ring on swivel connecter.

Ok well I have a female hoselock stop connector outside the van, on the hosereel, I have a male shut off valve that connects to the female and when shut off stops the hose de pressurising so again no leaks, if I want I don't have to disconnect the hose and can still put the hosereel in the van and shut the door driving between jobs.

Hi...

i have the same set up...

i never disconnect the reel from the pump hose.... but i do turn off the varistream after each job .. as its straining away between jobs trying to work.. and cant be doing it any good i dont think... as its all pressure......... and wasting the battery.

NOTE:.....just a thought about the varistream.... it controls the flow, meaning its supposed to be saving US water.....

but when you turn the hose tap off to walk to another window.... turn it back on.. and BLAST.... out it comes like a firemans jet....

so all the water saved has just been lost..

just a thought.  :D

hi
if your varistream is straining away trying to work it is set wrong or you have a leak somewhere , when i turn water of varistream stays of until i press pole trigger, also with it gushing out between windows it sounds like you prob got it set to high on cut out. mine was the same, reset it, great now
