Power washing driveways.
« on: August 19, 2008, 08:42:11 pm »
Hi guys,

Today ive managed to add a petrol powerwasher to my set up.

Does anybody on here use one? If so what for?

How much should I charge to clean an average driveway?

Thanks in advance.

Dean.

I use  a powerwasher + 7 metre lance for gutter cleans and without the lance for paths/drives etc.  Charges vary but up to £170 for gutters, only done a few paths driveways but try to charge by the hour. But be carefull, lack of experience caused me to seriously undercharge by first jobs, but still you live and learn.

I have a petrol powerwasher, the first driveway i cleaned was about40ft long and 12ft wide,i quoted £30 ,it took 20 mins to set up and 1hr to wash, then 20mins to put everything away, also driving to and from the job took 15mins,I learned from that first job how to price future jobs.
I started out with nothing......I still have most of it.

Depends what you are cleaning.
If it is a concrete drive then £2 psm is about right where I am (worcestershire)  but block paving will need re-sanding so £2.50 psm.    This price is for where I am it will vary around the country like everything else.  ( a customer of mine had a chap call round to her this week and offer to clean and resand her drive for £400, i did it for £150 2 years ago and wil be doing it again later this year.)
Obviously a minimum charge for the smaller drives or paths ( a hourly rate )

Remember make sure you check out the drainage before you price anywork.  A drive with no or very bad drainage will be much more work and take a lot longer  than a larger drive with good drainage.    If you have a good machine get a flat surface cleaner ( whirlaway etc)  these speed up the job by at least 50% over just a lance and leave no zebra stripes.  If you dont have one get a turbo nozzle too for any real stubborn patches of lichen etc plus they are tops for shifting weeds.  They are worth their weight in gold.
Veni, vidi, vino, splatus.

 (I came, I saw, I drank, I fell over...)
