Guarantee for Leather Re-colour
« on: July 27, 2008, 12:39:26 pm »
What sort of guarantee do you offer for a leather repair or re-collect a customer who wants a written 12 month guarantee off me for a re-colour ::)

Offered her 3 months but she is insisting on 12 month think I will just walk as her suite is only 14 months old and in a bit of a state. She says she has only used the leather kit supplied with suite which I find hard to believe as the amount of colour that has been removed beggars belief

Steve
To offer any sort of guarantee is a very complex matter.

If you give a guarantee for any period does this cover every eventuality (ie customer misuse) if not how do you differentiate between product/process failure and/or customer misuse.
Writing this into a contract with a customer would be very difficult and expensive and probably not worth the bother for a one off.

There are some occassions when it is better value to walk away!!!

Hope this helps

Was just going to say steve i would personally not give the 1 year or even 3 months guarantee with this. The client is putting the emphasis on you..The suite must be getting a lot of trafic..

That's what I was thinking her husband said he has used baby wipes on the suite but she shouted him down,as you say how do I know what they are going to use.Apparently someone else quoted for the job and offered her 12 month guarantee which I said let him do it but he was charging three times what I quoted.

Thanks for the replies
