Anyone available in Deeside nr Chester?
« on: June 17, 2008, 02:46:48 pm »
I've been asked to do a job on the Deeside Industrial Estate this week, but my van broke down this morning so I MAY not be able to do it.

Its essentially a builders clean on some exterior skylights in a unit. Theyre pretty caked, and will be done with WFP from a cherry picker. Tricky + minging job but I reckoned at a day and a half, so priced it at £340. There are 22 smaller lights, and 6 large ones (about 6 times the size of the small ones).

I may still get to do it, but my van is in a mess (fuel line split + drive belt gone), so if I cant.... if anyones interested I can pass your number on....?

I've not, I'm afraid :( Hard to get pictures, because all I could see was the inside. Have told them that it may be impossible to get them completely clean without climbing on the roof.... which they don't want anyone doing, so may just be a scrub and run job.

They want it doing before Saturday, so you can always put your own price in. I've got other commitments, so its not looking good.

Thanks for that mate, it is just a one off however. Badly timed I guess :( I won't be able to do it.

LWC and chrisbrooke, I will pass your numbers on, if you haven't heard anything, give Jonathan a call, his number is 07977 516 567. Hes the guy from the contractors. They're just builders, so you may as well price it as you like :) Its a minger of a job, but they want it done quick, so I reckon you can price it as you like. Might just be worth it pricing by the hour. Anyhoo, up to you.

Thanks :) let me know how you get on.

Sounds like one contractor employing another etc. and billing 100% so you never really know who you are working for. Sad you cannot get your van going though and good of you to put the work about. Maybe you should still control thye work and just re sub it as they have done to you ?

Its all about getting paid- not in 60 days tho. ! Unless its worth it to you.

We are in Deeside tomorrow from 7am. We could give somebody a chuck to get the job finished quickly.

Cheers mate, yeh well he sounded like a genuine enough bloke, so didnt want to leave him in the lurch, and knew there would be someone on here who would like it :)

Yeh I did think of subbing it out actually... too late... lot on my mind with the van and various other things though, so its simpler just to pass it on.

Hey mate, give him a call in the morning, he might still not have anyone.

you could do this in a day or less with a pressure washer

No idea... not heard anything.  Yeh a chat and a Maccie D's would be good :P Queensferry ASDA you mean?

Not "lucky" as such, turns out the cambelt had worn and skipped a few teeth, damaging the head. But "lucky" in the sense that I sourced a new engine for about £50 ;) Can't decide whether to have it fitted though, or lease a new van... spoke to my accountant today, and he reckons financing would be better, as I'd get to claim 50% of the value in my first year. Which could mean next years tax bill could be rather reduced :)

Yeh they were translucent fiber glass, looked pretty mucky but I don't think they were bothered about it sparkling. Would love to know if anyone got the job.....?
