Blower oil
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:01:26 am »
Hi all,

I'm trying to do all the maintenance on the t/m myself from now on (cost me around £400 for a service last time i went to W**dbridge) , but not sure how you go about checking the oil and refilling on the blower?

have sussed out the how to grease it, but cant make head nor tails of the manual on doing the oil, plus it is quite packed in the van so not easy to see what i'm doing or looking at!??!

Also what kind of oil and where would i buy it?

cheers
steve

John,

I have a lawn mower guy local to me who services and supplies parts for kohler engines, so is quite easy to get parts, and cannot stand the hit & miss affair with t/m supplier, half the time they send the wrong parts and when your desperate to get up and running gain it only makes you more aggitated.

Do you have a pro mount? - I think they're fairly decent machines, just the after sales service that is less than adequate  ::)

Steve  got a pro mount 20  ,  The only problem I have with it is that its running hot , I dont think its bypassing when you put the wand down to move furniture etc , I,ve changed the thermastat and the sender unit , worried that I am going to do some damage to the machine

Can it be e-mailed as an attachment? I would like one, know I have one unit near me with a possible of another 3 = £££’s

Steve

It very easy checking the oil on the blower if it any thing like, the blazer you take the unit out. (but not on mine ;)) What blower is it? Gardner Denver/Roots think they have a UK out lets.

John

Did the replacement parts cure the problem?

click; products

click; positive displacement blowers

click; small rotory blowers

click; urai

at the bottom of the page click the PDF doc called 'product line manual'

everything you need to know about your blower :) I would give a direct link but it won't allow it

The blowers got a drain plug on the bottom.

A fill plug on the top.

And a plug on the side.

Warm her up, drain the oil, put the bottom plug back in  :o

Fill her up until oil comes out of the side plug.

Job done  :)

I use an oil can with a flexi hose to get at the fill plug.

Order your blower oil from woodbridge.

I change the blower oil every 500 hrs. Also the water pump oil at 500 hrs.

grease the blower every 100 hrs

Change engine oil every 50 hrs, oil and filter every 100 hrs

Clean out header tank filter every 100 hrs

Air filter and spark plugs every 500 hrs

Service it well and it will serve you well  :)

John
Mine was running hot last week, temp off the gauge.

I cleaned out the header tank filter ( behind the jet ) and descaled machine.

She runs fine now.

Spot on Chris Its vital the filter behind the jet in the header tank is clear other wise it slows the flow of the water through the system allowing the water to stay in the heat exchanger to long and heat up. Another thing to remember is if you live in a hard water area lime scale will build up quicker again this will clogg up in line fiters. The  heat down loader valve can clog up too with lime scale not allowing it to open and close properly.
When Descaling the system always allow the descaler to flow though the heat down loader valve ( this is found at the rear of the machine that leads to the waste tank). By regularly cleaning inline filters and de-scaling your machine it will never over heat or let you down.

who charged £400 for a service?

Just down the road from me there is a ferrari specialist, they do a full service inc cambelts for £480 so why is a truckmount so expensive?
