Suitable batteries for a backpack
« on: May 31, 2008, 09:11:28 pm »
I've just found a couple of batteries from my lamping days and was wondering if they would be suitable for spares for my BP.

There 12v,6Ah valve regulated, sealed lead acid type.

Thanks in advance Arthur

As long as they fit into the battery space Art, they will be good enough as spares for you.

Hi Jeff,

There the exact size as the one that came with it.

I knew they would come in handy for something. I'd actually forgot they were there  :)

Give them a good charge Art, sounds like they need it.

Just my luck. I think they've had it. The charger light isn't lighting up.

Oh well, worth a try

What type of charger do you have Art? also do you have a car battery charger? gel batteries have a five year shelf life.

It's a smart charger upto 12volt i bought from maplins last week.

The 5 year shelf life explains it Jeff. I last used them about 10 years ago

10 years Art  Your hoping lol
If you have the smart charger does it do the sealed batterys as well? if so give it a bash on there and leave it for a couple of hours to see if it returns some life back into them.
But if I was you I wouldn't hold out to much hope. ;)

Well that's not on Art   ;D
Been's your Scottish, here is what you do, remove the batteries tops, remove the Gell, you can then use this Jell to spike your hair  ;D ;D
The lead can be sold at your local scrap yard at a profit and you can spray the out side of the empty case and then sell them to your wife as plant pots  ;D ;D

I would try all the above my self, only I don't have any hair, no local scrap yard near me and I hate gardening   :o ;D ;D
