I use an 0845 number for my window cleaning business   
I have it for the flexibility it gives me such as if I move to a different dialling code area.
It's 3.5ppm to phone it. I do not profit from it.  They are very useful for businesses to have because if you move or have a number change forced onto you by BT (remember the fiasco last time they did it?), all you need to do is point the 0845 number to your new number.
