I used to use a company in Christchurch Dorset for Ametek-Lamb  Electric vacuum motors,
Flojet  pumps etc [they used  to supply to prochem & extracta ]

their TEL no is 01202 499149
        Fax 01202 499207

they were very good on carbon brushes,  pressure switches etc

hope the info will be of some good

Ive found Woodbridge very good for price.

Although I have a slight problem I bought two 5.5 inch motors for £45 each.

They tell me they put them in their machines and sell them well in excess of Amtech.

 £45 a motor?.....what's wrong with them?

what machine are you fitting them to?...I have 2 Alltec Aqua 50, I am told the motors on these are about £240 each!!!

Have you  used these motors b4?

No way Tony. I believe that the 5.7" 3 stage Lamb motors are in the low £100's. I seem to remember last year at A&M in Watford that they were £99 + V.A.T. and carriage if required.

I also seem to remember a few years ago, I think it may have been Stuart Clarke but I stand to be corrected, who had some bad experiences of cheap Italian alternatives to the Lamb vacuum motors. I think it was somewhere in the region of weeks of use rather than years. Whether or not they've improved I don't know. However, what I will say is that the UK manufacturers fit the more expensive US motors rather than the cheaper, locally sourced ones. So I ask the question Why?

Thanks for that Dennis, it made interesting reading even the second time 'round. Appologies to Mike for the name mix up. Perhaps it was the fact that Stuart had the last post ::) Well, the two of them come from up north.

Buy a cheap motor- it blows after a short while.  You may have saved £50 but how much is a days ( or more) work lost? I repair mcs and mostly just junk motors that are on their last legs for this reason. Reliability is essential and worth the odd bob more.

thanks for your replys
i would happily pay the going rate for a lamb, what i am looking for is to upgrade my pump and gauge on my exel, i found one wich went straight in, think it was 200-250 psi but have lost the web address, was hoping you guys might have pointed me in right direction, pump in question had a recirculating feature on it similiar to the one in the recoil, web address origanaly came from this website

                                                 cheers Con

I cannot comment on life of Motors as it is still working.
And I might have to send one back but still want to do further test as I only let it run for seconds.

Woodbrige seems an ethical company to me boss man seems Ok.

Told they put them into their machines.

Also they claim to be largest supplier of spares in Country

However I will keep you posted over the months.

Like other contributors I was prepared to buy lamb but was assued these were OK.
