I have been putting out flyer for the past two week to get some more work for the summer seeing now we got more daylight but I only had 2 phone call so far:(

This time last year the phone would not stop ringing, Do you think it might be to do with the cost of living with the prices going up?

Not that I need more money but I was thinking of taking someone on if I could get some more work which don't seem likely right now.

Leaflets are hit and miss I find. Some times I put 1 or 200 out and get a great response, other times I can put 1000 out and get sod all. I haven't done a leaflet drop for a while now but have been picking up a steady flow of work from recommendations over the past couple of months.

Been a good day today and picked up 4 new customers while cleaning neighbours etc. Only been going for 12 mths so obviously cant really comment on previous years but I like I said it's been a nice steady flow of new customers and haven't felt any of the Credit Crunch effect. YET!!!!

Leaflets are hit and miss and you'll need to push thousands through doors...to get results...

Cheers

I wouldn't say I've had less enquiries but I have had to put more feelers out and have chosen to pay more for advertising in order to achieve a similar number of enquiries.  Perhaps that adds up to the same thing.

Still picking up work slowly, no leaflets or flyers. Some customers are getting crafty and pushing for two monthly cleans, others just not posting payments till the last minute.

Work coming in good by recommendation all the time but noticing a delay in payments since turn of year. gone over to SAE (second class) & this has improved things to a good degree. ;)

There are just to many window cleaners out there, for the first time i can remember I am losing work to someone undercutting.

There are guys going round charging what i was 8 years ago.

Not that I am to bothered, it just helps weed out the more frugal customers.

I'm bothered that the dole brigade are out in force undercutting like mad. Good job my work is spread out into rural areas. Town centres and new estates suck

When I first started an oild window cleaner advised me to spread my work out in case of undercutters.  I think that still holds true.  I work a 15 mile radius from home so that is quite a few different towns.

You just have to read the newspapers to see whats going on in the country as a whole. This has to have an effect on everything, including window cleaning.

People are starting to feel the pinch.

I agree the new estates are probably the worst as a lot are living beyond their means. The best customers seem to be the ones past retirement age a) they seem more proud of their houses b) most have a steady disposable income and and no mortgage and c) a lot of them need you because they can't clean them themselves.
