did a new job today   wfp...and all the frames and dirt came off lovely........but on the windows is a strange substance that wont come off with any amountn of rubbing..... the customer said she had tried all sorts, but nothing worked....

anyhow i tried a scraper on a small patch and it did come off ,,,,,but to do all the windows this way would take a long time....probably 10 times as long....as the top sashes are lead...

this substance is all over the whole of the widows as if it has been sprayed on  :o

is there a cleaning solution that i could try putting on the windows with an old pole and brush first , and then going over wfp again to rinse off???

sounds like ti could be tree sap

its a pain to get off, when ever i come across it, i use fairy liquid on fairly neat and brush it on and leave it for a few mins, then rinse and rinse some more

Happens to us on the odd occasion, try either MDR or oilflo 141, or a good solvent based cleaner, to do it with a scraper, even a 4 " one would take forever.

The last one we did was on a brand new, very large solid oak conservatory, they had sprayed all the wood with a special treatment, without thinking to cover the glass!!

Took us two days with three people to get it clean and cost them nearly £1000 for it.

you could try solvent cleaner, that gets allot of stuff off but try not to get it on the rubber seals in the corners of windows, because it takes some black off and goes everywhere

Have they had the outside of their house treated with a water repellent?
