Having done two insides jobs today, both big ones, because the forcast was rain. I have come to a couple of conclusions.

(1) they always take me far longer than I estimate they should.

(2) They are fiddly, trying to clean windows with desks, computers and the like in front is a pain. I don't know how the carpet cleaners put up with all that furniture every day.

(3) Trouble is I am getting asked to do more and more. Is this a trend?

i allways charge double the outsides

AND

ask them to clear the window cills for stuff

the price increase replects the extra time it takes when being carefull with water AND the time it takes to drink a cuppa and when they have a quick chat

I do quite a bit of internal work and i`m not a fan  ,but i`m afraid it comes with the job,i use an extension pole pad and squeegee and a water proof sheet to cover desks etc,i did a factory today it`s a monthly job i do all the office windows in/out but today got asked to do foremans office windows that is in the back of the factory,not been cleaned for nearly 2 years  ,water was black after 3 windows  ,
they looked amazing after i had finished

I never have any problems with doing insides.

find it far easyer and far more quicker... i would do insides all day long.


Altho it depends what you call insdes? all glass inside? i just normaly get asked to do the basic windows you have cleaned on the outside.

I would say half my jobs are both sides of the glass. I love it. No up and down ladders. In the warmth and a chance to nick things

For domestics I use squirty cleaning stuff from any supermarket, 2 microfibre cloths, a "wet" one to clean and a "dry" one to shine. Doddle really, but I still hate it

What's wrong with the old trad way for insides? leather and a damp scrim.
This interests me at the moment as I have to do a big inside job soon with Georgian windows.
Are there any real old timers out there that used to clean the old trad way?
When I first cleaned windows we had no squeegees, so had to use the old way.
The choice as I see it is, 1] use a 6 inch blade with small Micro fibre applicator, 2] use a spray bottle and a micro fibre cloth or scrim, 3] use the old method leather and damp scrim.
are there any guys experienced in all three methods that can give an honest opinion?

I have not used a leather for years but when i was first taught window cleaning we did use a leather but you just don't see that nowadays.

You can't seem to get a decent leather anymore.

Here, here, bring back the leather. Its a very under rated window cleaning tool.

i used a chamois leather for the 1st couple of months window cleaning. What a shock to the system that was!! It detailed the glass lovely though, but it didn't glide over glass like  scrim or microfibre. At the end of the day, my arms felt like they were going to fall off.
Then a friendly window cleaner introduced me to the scrim, squeegee and applicator.
