New investment in any business cost time (research) and money. To buy, service and operate.

You then have to integrate it into your business to get a return on investment.

No guarantee of success, but you would base your decisions on your understanding of your business.

well put ewan,totally agree ;D ;D

Ever heard the saying immitation is the sincerest form of flattery....

This miserable excuse of a knocked off topic should be reported to trading standards, you haven't even got the wit to think up a poll parodying mine much less put up any convincing arguments

I made heavy investments to set up and got it all back plus plenty more, so where is the cost?

Investment or investing is a term with several closely-related meanings in business management, finance and economics, related to saving or deferring consumption. An asset is usually purchased, or equivalently a deposit is made in a bank, in hopes of getting a future return or interest from it.

The industry has moved forward, and progression brings opportunities for those who are ready to take advantage of them.
Investment is the innovation what lays beneath every major business success in the world that we live in today.

Your term or flase remark is out of line! The top of my previous statment was whatever you call it and was soley intended to give you or 'you guys' a more in depth answer into the subject that you are debating.

Investment means exactly that, investing in a way or something that will make you a return or profit. Quite simple really.

The value of your investment may / can fall (to quote all insurance / investment companies)...

An investment can be anything.  Money, time, attention... not all of which cost money, but all of which are intended to increase in some way the business / fund / value / cash.

It does not always work out this way.

An investment in any way is ALWAYS a cost, until it is recouped (if it is recouped).
