Faster.. with one man or two?
« on: April 20, 2008, 10:18:13 pm »
Hi,

I had  helper this with me , who quickly picked up the method, doing wfp downstairs...

after a while, we were flying through them... and at the end of the fourth day i decided to add up each day...

we had cleaned more than double than i do on my own... now i have never worked with anyone before, and i always believed that with two people it would work out not double but 70/80% quicker, .... ie... talking, cafe, or all the other things that can slow you down too. twice!.....

and i thought the another way was to split ..on the same street.

hope all this makes sense  :)

so i was more than happy to be able to pay a set daily helper fee  ;) ;)

and make much more money for me... ;)

I think you will find that most on here will say that 2 cannot do double that of one window cleaner, however it very much depends on the people involved, when I have my brother working with me a competitive spirit kicks in between us and we absolutely fly, racing each other all day!! we definetely get much more than double what I would achieve on my own! I am hoping that one day he will join me full time as a partner. I also have another occasional helper, a good friend of mine called Pete, but this is a different story as he isn't bothered if I'm doing much more work than him and he's quite happy to plod along behind me, he wants to chat all the time to me or customers, which is fine if he works at the same time but unfortunately he sees this as an excuse to stop working, which he does at any opportunity!! >:(  When he works with me I would say that I do about 50% more than on my own.

But yes if you get the right person 2 can achieve double that of one cleaner and sometimes more if they work well together!!  ;)

I think its not as easy as that. There are so many factors that have to be taken into account. I tried it, and it was only slightly quicker with two than one, simply cos of the acces. The whole of my round you have to go over the garage the get to the backs, with two that means that the guy at the front was doing three to one back, so the person doing fronts was doing more than the one doing the rear

I Understand your point exactly, but the whole of your round climbing over garage roofs?

if thats true that must be hard work, cant you build your round and get rid of some of these as you go along?

i wouldnt like to think i was doing that every day Steve.

It does depend on your work base.

I always work with at least one other person and really do not like working on my own. I find that if a job is a little tough or the weather not good having two of you working together spurs you on to get the job finished and keep going despite the weather.
