I opened my powermax last night as one of my vacs wasnt working it turned out to be a loose wire.When i was looking about i noticed my pump was a shurflo 80psi pump when its supposed to be 120psi.When i got the pump about 2 years ago they said the new pump had some sort of preasure switch removed so it would run at 120psi but i didnt realise it was only an 80psi pump that they replaced it with.So see all the powermaxes that are advertised with 120psi pumps is it realy only an 80psi pump thats in them or is it only me thats been bumped.

Most pumps have the same casings but with different cams to suit different needs, as well as some being bypass and some controlled by pressure switches.

It is certainly possible that a pump manufactured for an 80psi application can be upgraded to 120.  I've done similar things in the past with Flojet pumps.

My advice would be to contact your supplier and discuss it with them, but have your original paperwork to hand first.

PS  You could try a pressure guage first to obtain a reading

I questioned the exact same thinga couple of months ago, bought a 120psi pump from olympic and when it came it sain 80psi on the tag.
I rang the supplier straight away and he told me all pumps in the range carry the same badge. I rang prochem and asked the same thing and got exactly the same response. I have used a powerflo with the 70psi pump and it was pants these are defo 120 psi.

Ken i havent any paper work as it was 2 years ago but iam pretty sure it didnt say 80psi pump on the recipt.cheers Darren

if you are using a 2 jet wand which im sure you are, if the pump was 80psi i am sure you would know.

Mark i didnt notice any difference at all between 100psi and 120psi with my powermax so iam not to sure if a pump at 80psi would be that much of a difference.
