Leaded windows have streaks that wont come off
« on: April 11, 2008, 07:17:04 am »
Some leaded windows about 20 years old, not stick-on, have whiteish-greyish lines like funny deposits on them, any idea what it is? Is it the lead or some glue the maker might have used to put the glass in place? It wont rub off its almost like its in the glass!  :(

I've seen this too, i think it's some kind of deposit from the lead. I've got a conservatory roof thats streaked all over from a lead flat roof above. Mdr might shift it but it would be a long job by hand.

Ian,

Its called Winsol Crystal Clear 550

http://www.soapnational.co.uk/acatalog/Chemicals__Cloths.html

and you barely use any so that bottle will last for years.

I have a few customers with steaks from the lead.
I don't try and get rid of it i just clean the windows normally.
