SL2-Protecta rings
« on: April 08, 2008, 09:59:47 am »
I have just fitted the protecting rubber rings to the sections on my superlite 2 as detailed in the instructions.

No problems got them on ok glued them and fitted them into position before the glue set.

My problem is this. Sections 1-4 used to fit into number 6 and then the end cap fitted to secure them inside the section. All very convenient for transporting and storage etc.

However, now although they go inside (kind of) they protrude from the end of section 6. You now cant fit an end cap over them and they are free to fall about. Also this section will now not fit into the bag.

Are there any solutions for any of this or is this something I just have to live with?

The easiest way to carry them now is all the extension sections in one half of the bag and all the tapered sections in the other half. Dont push them into each other, just have them sitting all individually in the bag, simple, Luke

I agree but when you have 9 sections the bag is not really big enough to carry all 9 sections separately which is probably why sections 1-4 were designed to fit inside number 6

Hi Tony,

The way they are now sent out in the Holdall is sections 1 & 2 inside section 5 and sections 3 & 4 inside section 6. This way they will all fit in and you can even just zip the bag up.

How I store them now is all of the sections (1-5) still inside section 6 and just let them stick out of the holdall a few inches. I find that this allows me easy access for quick assembly.

Thats the way I have put them in for now Alex.

It was a bit of a pain as I used to carry just sections 1-6 in the van. It was easier than having the whole bag with me. I will just have to get used to it, after all its worth it to have the rings on the pole.

I store mine exactly  the way Alex does.
Inside the van I have a 6ft pointer which lies on the wheel arch, the pointy end at the front of the van.
I've a 6ft triple extension ladder that rests on top of that and on the top of my 650 litre flat tank.
The stiles on the pointer help support the ladder, and on THAT I rest my bag with the superlite in.
With all the pole sections in as one section it is so easy to just slide out whatever sections I need.
If I need three extra sections I take out the three sections all still inside one another, makes carrying what you need so easy.
The bag never needs to come out of the van.

I find the best way is to have the first 4 sections inside each other and the others lose, the first 4 are normally all you need for low 4th floors.I grab the 4 together and assemble them on grass as it saves damaging.

That is how I work it too. The whole point was that without the end cap stopping them they can slide out anywhere. No offence intended.

Even with the protects rings on you can still put them indside each other but once you get above 5 sections they wont fit in the bag,so i store the first 4 or five inside each other and have the others lose as i don`t always need loads of sections.
