there was a brainstorming thread long time ago about how to stop getting
air into the system when using trolleys-having to frequently whip out
the intake hose and close the valve
i tried changing the hozlock non return-didnt work
even put a hoz non return at the end of intake hose-still no success
i reckon it was lj thorpe suggesting to bung a filter on the end of intake hose
i did it the other day
used a bit of the green scouring 'mesh' used for dishes
cut a measure of it in the shape of a T
roll up and bung in to the valve  the remaining material is wrapped around
external of valve secured with rubber band (eliminates possibility of mesh been
sucked into the pump)
completly solves airlock problem
negligable drag through the filter next to nothing

i think i have this problem too. sorry but can you just explain what you are classing as the "intake" hose? i run a van mounted set up but have a hozeloc stop under van. i am thinking that i have an air lock on occasions.

also, could you please post a pic on what you have done?

no camera at the moment
intake hose is what you put into the tank of water
us trolley guys are always taking it out and putting it back in
from the tank the hose goes to pump
if you sometimes run your system and the tank is empty
then for sure youll get air in the pump
to get the air out i run the pump full blast for half a minute
youll notice a change in the sound of the pump when it kicks in fully
you shouldnt need any kind of filter at the end of your intake
because your intake hose is always immersed in water

i just lay the pole on the floor for 10 seconds and the flow starts,

After fitting your fresh barrel of water, just unplug your pole hose from the hozelock on the trolley and plug in one of these:

to release the waterstop valve. Then turn your pump up to full power and your water will be running in seconds. Reconnect your pole hose and job's done.

Works every time for me.
