SPOTTING
« on: April 04, 2008, 10:26:41 pm »
Yes its that word were not supposed to mention ::)
Now ive always wiped the cills with a seperate brush to the one that i clean glass and frames with but thought i would try to speed thing up by wiping cills with the same brush
This appears to have been a bad mistake !
im geting a few calls back due to spotting and can only assume its down to not switching brushes to wipe cills, any one else has same expeirience or any general comments
ill probably go back to the old way next week and see if anyone shouts up

cheers john

If you rinse with the brush off the glass then you won't have a problem.

Just how long are these jobs taking you with changing brushes??????

Frames .. glass  sills....

same brush...

surely you dont change your brush simply to wipe the sill?...

i asked this question about spotting a year ago...

first cleans... dirt under the seal..

but most of the time its a broken seal,... you can normally see it after a rinse... one line of water still there as you move to the next window....

with them, i always clean it , rinse it and at the very end ... i go back to it and rinse from the top again.. without actually  touching any part of the frame/seal...

but more often than not its a lack of proper rinsing... i have learnt my lesson not to be tight with the pure water. ;)

Standard maintenance clean for over 2 years no complaints before,  wish the varistream would make its mind up as far as a constant flow might make life easier
will check the condition of the seals though !

:) just got the varistream.... digital...

i posted earlier about it being too powerful on no.1.... now i have sussed it...

i turn it on as soon as i pull up... regardless of wether i have set up or not.... i then set it at no.3.....and its far too powerful... then i turn it down to number .1and  2 minutes later it does the job its supposed to.... plenty of water , the flow stays the same at any height.

but i do wish i had not bought it now...

i hope Mr Mcaan from pure freedom is reading lol.

if the cills are just wet i wipe with same brush (always top windows) but if the cills downstairs are dirty it is easier just to use a cloth. have never had a complaint about spotting before .

I have had the spot problem in the past, I now carry a 19" rectangular bucket filled with pure water and several heads soaking in it, change them several time per day and have curred the problem.

Rob.
Life used to be full of up's and downs....now i hardly ever get up a ladder :) .

There are many factors and reasons on why some windows spot.

If the brush head is dirty then this will transfer to the glass and it will spot.

If after you have cleaned and rinsed the glass and water drops from the upper window onto the botton sill and then onto the glass then this window will spot.

The same applies to water that drips from vents and brickwork.

Another cause is high winds, after you have cleaned the glass and while its still wet a high wind comes alone and deposits dust particle onto the glass this drys out and the glass is spotty.

The way I cope with these problems is I always wipe the top window sill off any excess water that they have.  This stops the water dripping onto the bottom sill.

With high winds, I always blade dry the windows, this stops the spots.
