YELLOW PAGES...ANY GOOD?
« on: December 20, 2004, 06:57:34 am »
I've entered the yellow pages for the first time, however, my friend that runs a removal business reckons that most of his business comes from thomson local...with about 4 % from yellow pages... Is this a fact, or has anyone got a different opinion...i'm in the thames valley.

I find YP works with a smaller ad. The other is poor, but it is a few years since I tried a display ad. I have a corporate NCCA ad in at the moment, I thought at £120 it was worth a bash, and have had 2 replies in 2 months, not exactly exciting!

Hi Scott,

I have been in both YP and Thomsons.  Both generated interest and work, but there are so many entries under CC that it may be worth investing more of your money in direct marketing and referral offers etc.

I found a better return from yell.com as opposed to the YP book.

I found that most of my clients had computer access either at work or at home and to be honest, its a lot easier to do a search on a website than look through that big heavy book imo.

It works for some and not for others you can only try it & decide for yourself.

yes chaps...I did wonder, as yp ad is costing £400+ and didnt want to waste more money on thomsons if it wasnt gonna work. I 'm not desperate enough to trapse around with leaflets, i'm afraid. I wonder if Most of the middle aged housewives would have access to the web, though, and may favour the old yellow book....aw well, time will tell...thanx for the input.
