Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could guide me on the best way to remove coal marks from a carpet.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kim

Talcum powder works very well to remove the surface soil, cover the marked area and leave for few minutes then vacuum away with a crevice tool a few centimeters form the carpet, avoid contact if you can, then I would suggest removal using a micro splitter such as Dynax no8, No3 spotter or eco spotter, Solvall, or  Prochems Ultra Renovate indirectly applied using  terry towel or similar.

Best regards Nick

Hi

It depend if it has gottennwet or not.

coal dust is carbon based and if it has gotten moist or wet it will bleed into the carpet and the damage can be permenant.

I have done one salvage with soot.

You need to dry vac as much as you can first with a sebo or similar and when you are satisfied that younhave gotten all you can out then go in with the M/S or chemicals.

Make CERTAIN that you pre-qualify with the customer that their carpet may be doomed, put it into writing ( get them to sign) and take pictures if possible.

With this kind of  work you must cover your every angle.

good luck
