Removing Brodex pole section?
« on: March 23, 2008, 01:54:22 pm »
I have a Brodex 4 section 23 foot pole with lever clamps.

I want to remove the bottom section as none of my jobs require the full length.

How do I do it?

Thanks

Mike

Undo the clamp lever bolt, take out the bolt, pull down over the pole section end stops, remove the pole guides, fit a new end cap.  Sorted.

Thanks, Alex.

I'll go and try it now.
Cheers

Can't fathom it out!

The clamps are plastic 'Duralok' (pole guide and clamp seem to be all in one piece)

Even with the bolt out, I can't see how to pull it down over the pole section.

Do I have to force open the 'split clamping bit' - I'm frightened of breaking it.

p.s. will ther be 17ft and 21 ft Glass Fibre X-Tel Poles for sale at Windex

You just need to stretch it open a little.

Brodex clamps are usually glued on  :-\

I've just had a look at one of the clamps and I do not think that you will be able to get the clamp off. There is no room for flexing on the clamp unlike the Universal clamp.

The only way will be to 'break' the pole guides beneath the clamp. To do this you will need to pull the clamps sharply downwards to snap the little plastic pegs holding the guides in.

Clean - I think you might be right

Alex Gardiner - Thanks for looking

Guess I might as well leave the bottom section on!

Mike, I had the same problem, the only way I could get the section off was to carefully cut it out with an angle grinder!
