Do you mean carpet machines as in vacuum cleaners or as in carpet cleaning

Look at what you are cleaning and who will be cleaning them. If it's a cleaner with little or no experience then go for something that is fool proof and you can't do any damage, but a more experienced cleaner with a course qualification will get better results with a more thorough machine and solutions but they won't spoil anything as they'll know what to look for regarding pitfalls.

Looking at your website I would recommend you to contact John Kelly at www.restormate.co.uk and the best thing is he will advise you for free and not try and sell you anything. How good is that?

Angela - why not put a location on your profile.

You might try asking others near you if can look at their machines before you commit, and have an idea of which will suit you best.

Why doesnt everyone fill their details in - something to hide?

Wish I knew too, should be compulsory, but we would only get nonsense details I suppose.

I have two machines and would be happy to demo them to others provided they travel and are not a local potential competitor. I think it would be good if others offered this to help new guys.

Did that last Friday Phillip, the guy came about 60 miles and took delivery of his new machine today.
He already had it on order before he came last Friday - another Scorpion owner.

Way I read it level 3 must have something to do with the PAT testing ???

For someone who is asking whats the best cleaning machine - she sure put a lot of detail in to the advert on how that machine AND cleaning fluids is going to work  ::)

Have you guys noticed somthing I have not

It is an Alison who asked question and her company is shine, so we do know who she is and where she comes from etc.

The one on ebay is Angela   who is also in North East and has Angela Angels  who probably bought the manual being sold by Angela in Swindon  who started with a Rug Doctor and now has an Excell .

That room she cleaning in looks like Matts training room in Nottingham

The web site for Shine is excellent.............what I wonder about ( choosing my words carefully ) is what other guys also notice, is the fact that an occasional " newbie" appears asking for VERY BASIC  " advice " but within a matter of months .................they have a comprehensive cleaning service on  smart web site.............giving the impression to the public that they are an established and highly competent / professional organisation.................which those of us who have noted their posting know them NOT TO BE.

The writing's on the wall, ignore i at your peril !

Rob thats exactly why I put a thread up a few weeks ago " Do we give too much info away on open forums ", I agree people need to learn as I have done over the years, but like you I start to get concerned when people up grade their look and personna to the public and they are at a very basic level in experience and trainning. There are 2 near me that fall into this catagory, who are on this forum alot, they do not contribute to it but just soak up all the good info.

I'm  a newbie as you put it, I'm a tiler going into hard floor and carpet cleaning to run along side each other. I did the prochem courses, and i disagree about you guys giving to much info away. Its not as easy as getting cc machine and reading all the posts on here and going out and doing it, you have to get the work, do it properly and get a good reputation and you cant get that of the web. And also about newbies contributing to the forum, i will when i can, as i did this morning on this site regarding a tiling problem. So please don't give us new guys a hard time we have to start somewhere, and OK we will ask silly questions but please humour us. Thanks again guys for all your very useful information and help. Sherco, calm down mate,my post was made to people and they know who they are.Sorry you feel you fit into that class but I dont think you do,you have contributed well over the past months and have helped others out too with your posts on tiling.I mean more of the people who dont fill thier details in, only post a couple of times and that is to get info. Some in the past have asked for help on leaflets for example, then when the guys have sent them stuff they have just copied it and sold it on ebay.

No offence taken Paul, yes i do agree if they don't contribute but sometimes they might feel a bit silly asking questions some might find silly. And also they should write more in there posts explaining a bit more about themselves if they are new, and give as much detail in the question as possible so you guys with all your years of experience can answer correctly and give as much advise as possible. Keep up the good work.

Sherco, no probs mate  ;). After a while you can just pick them out straight a way.
For example this lady has come onboard asking for help on which carpet cleaning machine to use which tells me she is very inexperienced in our industry, yet her web site looks professional and she states on it

"We also specialize in providing all kind of professional cleaning like windows, carpets and upholstery"

Can you see were im coming  from.

Yes i can see where your coming from, i have been looking to start fairly soon, i have done all the prochem courses before even looking at machines, i think people think it an easy way to make money... Get this all the time in my trade, the other day it was Sunday evening and i had been tiling all weekend i was getting a takeaway and there was another tiler i know in there, he couldn't believe i was working at the weekend, he told me he was very quite and didnt have much work and people like me shouldnt work weekends then there would be enough work to go round, so i said do you want some work, he said yes ok i said monday morning you can clean my van and tools for me, as you cant be much of a tiler and walked out... ;D
