Wet and dry???
« on: March 03, 2008, 03:19:15 pm »
I have scratched a few sills with my brush head and need to find a way of getting rid of them.

I've picked up from a different thread that wet and dry is very good for this sort of problem. It was said that a grade 2000 was needed for this but i can't seem to find any in B&Q over 600

Where if anywhere can i get some wet and dry suitable for removing the scratches from the sills.

If this isn't the best way of getting rid of them, then suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Lance

Lance, go to Halfords or a car shop and buy the finest you can get.

Wet the paper and the sill.....only run the paper along the length of the sill and not across it, try to use it wrapped around a small block if you can.

You can actually buy paint now for PVC sills, wet and dry them first.

Yes you can but its really meant to be sprayed not brushed. If you brush it on it will look "ropey" as hell.

Make sure you haven't just "scratched" the top layer of grime off the sills with the brush shownig the white underneath.
When a customer first pointed some scratches out to me I was horrified, I got some PVC solvent and they just wiped off and the sill became white again with no scratches instead of the greyish colour they were.

These are definately scatches.

I've been to the customer's in question (Well 3 of them to be precise  :o). They are all on fairly modern upvc and are kept very clean so definately scratches.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll nip out to Halford's tomorrow and see what i can find.

As for eliminating this problem completely. Are there any wfp brushes that have a softer head which doesn't leave scratches or is there something i can attatch to my existing brush head to stop it scratching the sills. I know i've scratched a few more but the customer's either haven't noticed or aren't bothered.

Regards,
Lance
