Reccomendations
« on: February 03, 2008, 08:15:16 pm »
I have been thinking over the weekend how i can gain extra work from customers who say please leave me some cards my friend or relative wants something doing, but you never hear from them.

Does anyone have any tips how to convert these into positive leads.

Your ideas would be appreciated as i am looking for ways to advertise as i feel the conventional methods of phone books are falling short.

Why don't you ask them for their name and address there and then?

Morning Ian...................just had a look at your site.............if a member of the public looks in, I think the first thing that's going to catch their eye, is the spelling errors, of which there are many.

This could over rule any positive feelings they get about your methods, ethics, etc.

goggle for Google,  made me think of the French policeman in Allo, Allo.

Why don't you operate an active referral scheme. By this I mean actually rewarding people for referring you. Everyone says they'll pass your name on to friends and family but only a few actually do it. If you were going to give them £20 for every 3-5 refferals you'll find they would do it more readily.
We did this about 12 years ago. Hand the customer a sheet of coupons, there is a space for their details, once you get 5 back (or 3 if you want to spend a bit more) you send that customer £20.
What happened to us was we got lots of 2's 3's and 4's which didn't cost us anything but we only paid out around £200 in total for the 5's that we got.
