Leaking RO Unit Membrane( Advice Thanks)
« on: January 08, 2008, 11:35:34 am »

Just wondered if someone could perhaps help out here with some advice?
There`s a leak coming from my RO unit. It` one of the RO membranes at
The top. There`s 2,can`t tell which one it is though.I think it`s the bottom
One but can`t tell for sure.Ya know what I mean, they are situated horizontally
Above the filter vessels. It drips out at about half a cupful every 2 hours or so.
Any ideas whats wrong before I take it over to my suppliers to look at?
There are some electrical connections that are near so it does need looking into.
Thanks in advance for replies.

Most probably it is a damaged/mis-aligned rubber O ring seal. If you unscrew the ends off both of them you can take a look to see if one of them has been pinched.

The other possibility is that during the cold weather the housing has cracked, but if your RO is indoors this is less likely.

Is it leaking at the screw cap or at the point where the tube enters/exits? (assuming one of those little white membrane housings).  You robably can't tell if you're not sure which housing is leaking.  I've stopped a tiny leak before by tightening up the screw cap (you masy need a tool to do this).  Also, I've had a tiny leak by the tube before.  It turned out the tube end wasn't cut square.

Don`t know for sure Shiner where it`s coming from.Even if it`s the top one
Or bottom one.It was really running out this afternoon.I`m hoping it`s like
What Alex say`s and that it`s the `O` rings.As I understand it,it`s a fairly
Simple job finding out.( got to watch the electrical connections ! )
