Stinking Flu.....
« on: January 02, 2008, 09:04:43 am »
I was due to get back to work today, after enjoying my Crimbo rest.

But yesterday came down with the mother of all sore throats.

I sat here, suns out, coughing up golf ball sized greenies, and expecting my head to explode any minute.

Yours VERY FRUSTRATED !!!!!! :-[

Don't worry. Rest up and don't rush back. Honestly, you will work better for it when you do feel fit to return. If you go back to quickly you will probably be ill again. I have lost count of the times I have done that.  8)

That's so true.

If fact I think if I had rested a few days ago, instead of forcing myself to carry building my deck ( which is starting to look really good :-\) I would be OK now.

But you know how it is - you work hard, but home jobs get left behind, so you take some time of at Crimbo to catch up - and then you get ill.

Just into my 7th day with it, hasnt been helped by religiously taking my wholefood life saving Potters Vegetable Cough Remover medicine for 6 of those days. It did cut the cough but have just realised that my floaty half asleep, stuffed up head is caused by the overdosing of "chloroform"  :o thats in it. Stopped taking it yesterday and am now slowly coming back to earth.
Mines a virus so 8 days coming and 8 days going, nothing the doc. can do  ???
God bless you mate.

That sounds nasty Jeff. I hope both of you feel better soon.

I think I might try getting hold of that medicine though!  ;D

I'll swap your flu for my raging toothache and earache. It has deprived me of so much sleep and food and the pain has been unbearable to put it politely.
I've had it for 6days. I got an emergency dental appointment with an emergency surgery and they refused to take a tooth out at my request, (I, begged them to pull it out out because it had cracked in half), but they refused because of the inflammed infection. They gave me antibiotics and told me to come back when it's cleared up. It's coming out next week even if I have to pull it out myself.
Today I managed to get 5hours sleep and have just had my first decent meal in over a week. Sheer bliss :)
I would rather have a double helping of man flu anyday ;D
Roll on when everything returns back to normality. :)

Agreed... toothache is pain from hell itself. I hope you get over it soon.

Although... I'm not so sure my symptoms can be described as man flu. I can admit ot having man flu in the past, but this definitely not man flu ;)

This cold weather you have to be very careful about going back to working outside after flu. If the cold gets on your chest when its already weak it can really do you in for a long time.

Someone I know had flu. He started running a really high temperature and then started to become delirious, things like jumping out of bed at 2 in the morning saying he was going to work, etc.

When I suggested to his partner that she get the doctor to him, because I didn't think this sounded right, she and another friend told me there was nothing a doctor could do for colds and flu (which i know is right) and refused to listen to me. One week later he was in hospital with pneumonia...  >:(

My little girl (2) had Pneumonia - scared the crap out of me.

Again local docs just it was a throat infection ... it  wasn't unil she was delirious with fever that they finally took notice.

Luckily she recovered fine. :)

I had "real" flu about 12 years ago and I couldn't hardly get out of bed. Knocked the stuffing out of me for months.

I don't think I've ever had flu; the Little Un was sick just before Christmas and past something onto me, but I was fine two days later.

It was probably cancer or something, but being a Geordie, I just got on with it.

I can't remember being ill before that!

memory loss?  Sure sign it's cancer!  You've probably got days rather than weeks :o
