I got a data base yesterday, it cost me 200 notes for 7000 bussines addresses in my area. pubs schools restaruants nursing homes hotels ect ect, think thats a fair price? he also said he gets them for any area.  I think this is the way forward for me a direct mailing approach  ;D

Well why pay when you could get the yellow pages and look through  ???

We have in the past paid for databases of new businesses or recently moved businesses - these are more likely to need cleaners due to circumstance, this has mixed results.

If you're interested in the new business / expanding / moving business lead a good company is New Connections which is backed by Thomson.

Either way good lucck - let me know if it works!

For what its worth, the direct mailing list is only worth having if its been updated (cleaned), and has named contact details of individuals who are the decision makers (buyers, purchasers, general managers etc).

Well if i had to sit there all night letting my fingers do the walkin, then im sure id get some work.  And as I chose to get this data base with name and addresses so i dint have to do that, and yes i sure am busy,  I dont think you can ever be to busy to want to generate more business  :P

Choskers reply is pretty stupid on 2 counts, but it's great that there are people around who think like that  ::)

Firstly, it is illegal to use the Yellow Pages as an advertising tool for your use, they even place dummy adverts to see if anyone writes to them offering any services, they then prosecute and the fine can be huge.

Secondly, it's just impractical to sit and go through it, it's massive.

With good database software you can import any info you want and let a spreadsheet do the work.
