« on: November 29, 2007, 06:59:09 pm »
Hi Guys,

What is the largest WFP's out there height/storeys?

Im just about to produce a new leaflet, on which I want to say can reach upto XX storeys, that way if the right job comes along I'll just buy the neccesary pole.

Cheers AL

The largest wfp in the world is a Tuckerpol 83ft. Jeff Brimble also built an 83ft fishing pole, You may be suprised but you can buy an 83ft Tucker pole here http://www.jracenstein.com/store/ItemDesc.asp?IC=65-433 from USA for only $846 or around £423, but the postage will be quite expensive but it will probably work out alot cheaper than buying in the UK, Luke

Cheers Luke,

Do you know what that equates to in storeys?

Any higher bids

That's what I mean!
Another foot and he'd be in the guiness book of records.
Suggest a new catergory Luke, highest window cleaned from the ground.

There wont be any higher bidders because thats as high as it gets pole wise!! with flex I would say its 6/7 stories but that is guessing. It is crucial that when using this pole 2-3 men are used and a large area is coned off, if this pole fell it would kill somebody. Another safer solution is a 70ft Gardiner pole systems Super-lite 2 http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Super-Lite_Poles.html but by using it at that height renders the warranty useless and cannot be recommended by the manufacturer. They build the Super-lite to 60ft but it has been used at 70ft by adding more extension sections. If you drop a Super-lite there is far less chance of people getting injured below, Luke

83ft can be reached with a 60ft pole but it means purchasing a 23ft step ladder here: http://www.littlegiantwarehouse.com/store/detail.aspx?ID=24 . I would never do this myself as it could be deadly working with an akward tool so high SO DONT DO IT!!

Now thats an idea Luke

A set of 3 storey ladders combined with the 83ft pole then I could reach 10 storeys, dont worry I'd make sure I had someone footing the ladder.

Just a note for posterity, it was actually 83'6", sold the Garbolino top half to Karlos. The Tucker is a 3 man pole mine was 1 man.
Anything over 65-70ft is a very serious height and you need to work up to it.
AL saying you can do 8 storeys is very different from actually attaining it and you could be left with egg on face. I would just say upwards of 60ft and not actually quote what the height is.

We could build you a 108' PowerPole but you will have to sign a disclaimer. 9 x 12' :)

Yes it can be lifted from horizontal at 45ft, mine is a 45ft with a 50ft reach. Because they are so light it is easy to hold them high, I'm 6ft2 so I reckon holding it above my head I can get 52-53ft reach, Luke

Just wondered 'cos i have the thirty five footer and had it to the max today lifting it straight off the floor, it made me wonder what the maximum length could be lifted this way. Not so much operator strength but more pole/joint strength.

Lifting the Super-lite 45ft feels much easier than lifting my Brodex pro-long 25ft!!! Luke

Felt a bit strange in the breeze though - like an invisible hand pulling it over to one side. :o

Some people try to say that the Super-lite lightness is a downside in wind, but I would much prefer a 1.8kg pole at 45ft than some huge heavy telescopic thing, Luke
