Transfering water from IBC to van.
« on: November 18, 2007, 04:39:32 pm »
Hi All.

Ive tried using layflat hose to transfer the water but its bloody hopeless, the water stops everytime there is a turn in the hose ie corners, even as the hose goes up to the tank it kinks and stops the flow.

The hose has to go around a corner and over a fencebefore it gets to the van.

Can I use normal anti kink garden hose?

does anyone know where to get fittings to screw onto the large tap at the bottom of ibc's? so i can screw it on and fit a hose or something? at the moment im using a filter but if you open the tap too much it oveflows - so its too slow.

I use a normal hose from Home Base... It takes a while to fill my 400ltr but works fine!  ..

i would reccomend a submersible pump. 250 litres in under 5 minutes. its the best thing i ever bought. if you need a refill during the day its so quick and youre back out earning

Cheers guys.

I may try normal garden hose first then if its too slow I will go to Machine Mart and try the reinforced hose altho im reluctant to spend another £40 like i did with the lay flat hose.

trying to get layflat round stuff and up in to my van caused no end of grief with the crush proof it worked so well no kinks just a straight through flow.

I use A Hoselock Transfer pump and a normal garden hose, it comes out about 9LPM i think.

Thats going from bottom of a 210L water butt up a 15degree hill, up into the top of an ibc (about 15M) so not to bad

Sure you can get the delivery hose from Gardiner's also a tap for the end of the hose.
