Traffic Lanes on Cream Carpets
« on: May 16, 2006, 10:42:01 am »
Did a cream wool carpet the other week, clear colour differnce in the traffic lanes, presprayed with Hydramaster Bliz and rinsed with Formula 90, carpet looked good except the traffic lanes, allthough they were cleaner you could still see the differnce in colour, i put this down to wear and customer was fine about it when i showed them that no further soil was trasnferring to a terry towel, but its been bugging me and i wondered if there was anything else i could have done, i did by the way agitate and extract 3  or so times more over the affected areas.  Ive heard people speak of oxygenating prodcuts that may solve this, any Idea's?

p.s If anyone is interested i tested loads of free samples (over last few weeks) from different manufacturers and thing im going to me using MS as a rule, just have a few more to test yet.

Many thanks

Hi Dean,

Oxibrite can make a difference - it depends on the cause of the problem.

It could be soiling, it could be permanent discolouring, or it could just appear darker - because it's reflecting the light differently due to being flatter.

The dark areas (especially on light coloured wool loop pile carpets) often brighten up considerably after drying.

Hydramaster Blitz is a good product but too strong for cleaning wool!

Cheers,
Matt

Have you considered a deteriation in the dyes in the carpet the main trffic areas often go grey through use over time.

i've noticed somthing recently,

new (often cream) 80/20 you normally find in new built houses these days,
i think the devolpers fit them,

do not seem to clean as well as the old 80/20s of yester year, you know the 10 year plus ones,

why is that? or is it that because the new ones are normally cream so it just seems they dont clean as well, but then they do seem to have more absorbency, never good for stain resistence.

Guys dont beat your selves up. Walk areas will always look worst than the rest of the carpet, end of story. You cant get them better because of the wear and damage to the fibre . Just make sure you confirm this on quotation, then you have no problem. A hit with a good pile lifter before extraction does make a big difference such as an envirodri.

Wear and pile distortion is a lot of the problem and goes a long way to explaining before you start  ;)

Tell him to go sit on a rusty pole ;D

You see this is an age old problem.

The bottom line is that men get their heckles up when another man encroaches on their territory and so feels the need to stamp his authority by attempting to make his "Adversary" feel small by deriding him over the phone.

This usually occurs when the wife is present as he will need his ego massaged and she will need to feel protected from the evil carpet cleaner.

Sad but true....mines a pint!!

They expect to treat the carpet like crap and then have it come up like new.
