I brought an advantage about 4 months ago.
I find it a very good machine but, the gasket around the waste tank keeps comming lose, alltec have sent me two new one's to put on myself, the second one they sent with some bostic glue to add first, which i used but yet again its started to peel off again. The problem is, because of the vacuum in the waste tank pulling the lid down, when the gasket has come lose it creates a gap and takes away the the suction, making it unable to work.
My question is, are there any Advantage owners amongst you, that have had the same problem?
It's a possibility that i may have to send the machine back.

Sounds like a similar problem I had with a Cheyanne 3, some years ago. The gasket was originally self adhesive, but didnt stick very well to the body molding.
Prochem sent me a replacement - I peeled off the protective paper from the adhesive applied side and smeared it with Bostik, also smeared Bostik on the molding after roughening the surface with sandpaper and vacuumind the dust off (dont wipe) and left the two to near dry, then carefully positioning the gasket put them together. No problems after that.

Hi Dave,
Yes i did the same as that the last time, but to no avail.
If it has its own adhesive and bostic, and it still comes up, then what chance is there!!

Hi Ian,

Don't know for definate if it will work or not, but Try some 'Builders Sillicone', you know, the stuff you get in a 'Gun'.  It's flexible and sticks almost anything to anything, It's available in different elasticity, like 35% or 50%, usually comes in Brown or clear, clear would be better against the white casing of you machine (although applied carefully you shouldn't see it) 

I've used it for a number of different things around the house, and it sticks to a lot of substrates, (better than Bostic), Put it this way, the builders used it to stick PVCU Window boards to the top course of Bricks in my Conservatory and there's no way you'd shift them.

You can get it from your usual Wickes/ B&Q etc, and there is a removal compound you can buy just in case it didn't work.

If a silicone compound is the best way to go, as it would appear, then I would use a slightly different product. Fernox LS-X jointing compound and leak sealer comes in a toothpaste type tube so is easy to apply. It does not shrink or crack with age and is suitable below freezing and above boiling points. Regular silicone seals do eventually give way if constantly wet whereas LS-X claims not to.  www.fernox.com  LS-X should be available at most plumbers merchants. I got mine from B&Q in the specialist plumbing section.

A tip with silicone seals. They tend to cure quicker/better if kept at room temperature the night before, or a few hours in your trouser pocket may help
