Hi all, this is my first post here so a big thank you for all of the information i have already sifted through :-)

Ok my partner and I are hoping to setup a domestic cleaning company and our main dilemma at the moment is this>>

To operate on an agency basis (staff s/e, clients pay our fee via dd or standing order and cash to the cleaners)

or

To operate more along the lines of the Molly maid model whereby we directly employ our staff and quote jobs on a job basis opposed to an hourly rate etc?


We were originally looking to franchise but having realised how straightforward their business models are we decided that we could potentially do it ourselves for next to nothing (compared to massive franchise fees) !

We are an agency and the clients pay the cleaners who are s/e. we have some problems with staff turnover but these seem to be common around the industry and nothing to do with them being self employed. Our cleaners pay less tax, although get no holiday pay but most seem to think the pros outweigh the cons.
Also if a cleaner works directly for the client and not what they see as a business it often means they do a better job, or maybe i'm imagining that.

i'm sure there are lots of good points to emplying also, I just can't comment on them because I don't know so much about it
